The Dental Assisting Program was developed to prepare the student for an entry-level position as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. You will be trained on proper dental procedure setups for specific treatments in all dental specialties. In addition, students will learn the proper way of assisting in four-handed dentistry. 

Upon completion of the program graduates will be able to:

  • Efficiently take digital radiographs
  • ​Take preliminary impressions and bite registrations
  • ​Perform pouring/ trimming of study models
  • ​Setup/ breakdown operatories, and tray set-ups for multiple dental procedures
  • ​Apply proper methods of infection & biohazard control, and sterilization of dental instruments
  • ​Perform CPR, blood pressure reading, and know how to respond to emergencies
  • ​Properly collect dental/ medical information, maintain records and conduct dental charting
  • ​Demonstrate the ability and competency of patient care and overall communication
  • ​And other front office administrative duties
The program will empower you on becoming an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant in an actual dental office. Students will complete their 55 internship hours in dental practices or clinics. The students will receive instructions in preparing their resumes for future employment; as well as, job placement guidance. Upon completion of the program and CPR training, the student will be presented with a Diploma

You will earn the following certificates required to work in the state of FL:

  • Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Diploma
  • ​CPR Certificate approved by the American Heart Association 
  • ​Radiology Certificate approved by the Florida Health Department
  • ​OSHA & HIPPA Certificate
